EmployIndy Community Listening Sessions Help Guide Organizational Focus

Posted on November 2nd, 2016 in Press Releases

Indianapolis, IN – EmployIndy, Marion County’s workforce development board will host a series of community listening sessions throughout November at local community organizations. The purpose of the listening sessions is to introduce residents and community leaders to new EmployIndy leadership while gathering input to support the focus of investments in career pathway development and talent pipeline creation.

Under the direction of Mayor Hogsett, EmployIndy is focused on developing new approaches to meet the employment needs of all Indianapolis residents, regardless of circumstance, and to help them get on the right talent highways. EmployIndy will also expand youth programming and enhance existing workforce programs operating in areas seeing high poverty and crime rates. To help achieve these goals, EmployIndy is seeking active input from community development organizations, local businesses, and residents on how to work together in developing and implementing strategies designed to ensure economic growth and the creation of the state-of-the-art workforce needed to fill available jobs now and in the future. This input will happen through a series of public listening sessions hosted at various community locations. At these sessions, participants will be able to learn about the focus and goals of EmployIndy and give input on how to put these plans into action.

“Workforce development takes input and commitments from everyone affected,” said Angie Carr Klitzsch, EmployIndy’s president and CEO. “We need information from employers regarding their talent needs and we also need help from community leaders on the best way to connect with residents. We hope that everyone will join us and help grow our workforce ecosystem to enhance our residents and the businesses operating in Central Indiana.”

The community listening sessions are scheduled to take place over three events and are open to the public:

Friday, November 4, 2016 at 6:00 pm
