Vesta Structured Family Care Finds Recruiting Successes at WorkOne Indy Hiring Events

WorkOne Indy, an American Jobs Center operated by EmployIndy, helps provide connectivity between unemployed and underemployed job seekers and employers by serving workers dislocated by layoffs and changing industry needs, providing informative career navigation, and connecting job seekers to resources and training for advancing into a promising career.

When Vesta Structured Family Care reached out about a need to connect with job seekers, we invited them to attend one of our weekly Wednesdays@WorkOne hiring events. Last year, 6,950 job seekers attended these hiring events. During Vesta’s first week at the event, where over 420 job seekers attended the three-hour hiring event, they spoke with over 50 individuals, received ten online applications, conducted six on-site interviews, and scheduled an additional six follow-up interviews with candidates. They were also able to leverage the hiring event for networking and getting connected to other employer resources offered by EmployIndy.

With employer attendance at each hiring event capped at 20, Vesta quickly secured their recurring weekly registration and attended regularly. During a four week span of hiring events, Vesta hired two applicants and made offers to ten others. When asked what they thought was a contributing factor to the success of these hiring events, they noted that the staff at WorkOne Indy prepared job-ready, skilled candidates equipped for the application and interview processes, resulting in on-the-spot hiring at Wednesdays@WorkOne.

Last year, 6,950 job seekers attended these hiring events.

TIF Training Grants

The funding for TIF Training Grants comes from the NextLevel Jobs program, overseen by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. These grantees are reimbursed for their work to hire, train, and retain Indianapolis workers. It removes the financial barriers that many employers face during the hiring process and allows them to provide opportunities for growth and employee success throughout the training process.

The vision behind NextLevel Jobs stems from the need to engage the current workforce and provide individuals with opportunities to grow within their company. In order to receive reimbursement for hiring and training, the employee must stay on for at minimum six months.
