Setting Participants Up for Success

The future talent of Indianapolis needs to have in-demand soft skills to succeed. Using the Indiana Department of Workforce Development’s employability skills benchmarks as a foundation, EmployIndy collaborated with Mayor Joe Hogsett and the Indy Chamber to understand the skills most desired by area employers. Through meetings, focus groups, and committees, the Job Ready Indy curriculum was developed to offer job seekers a clear path to success in work.

A major component of Job Ready Indy is its online badging, allowing participants a unique URL to share on their resume for employers to see that they are, indeed job ready. The six competencies are:

  • Mindsets
  • Self-management
  • Learning Strategies
  • Social Skills
  • Workplace Skills
  • Launch a Career

TIF Training Grants

The funding for TIF Training Grants comes from the NextLevel Jobs program, overseen by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. These grantees are reimbursed for their work to hire, train, and retain Indianapolis workers. It removes the financial barriers that many employers face during the hiring process and allows them to provide opportunities for growth and employee success throughout the training process.

Story of Impact

Increasing Employer and Workforce Engagement

The vision behind NextLevel Jobs stems from the need to engage the current workforce and provide individuals with opportunities to grow within their company. In order to receive reimbursement for hiring and training, the employee must stay on for at minimum six months.
