Developing Leaders
Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) is a state-affiliated program based on a national model, available to juniors and seniors in high school that teaches them resume building, career exploration, and creates available tools for students to explore different curricula. JAG’s mission is to keep young people in school through graduation and provide work-based learning experiences that will lead to career advancement opportunities, or to enroll in a postsecondary institution that leads to a rewarding career. In Marion County, JAG Indy operates nineteen programs in sixteen schools, plus a College Success program at the Ivy Tech central campus.
The Marion County JAG program is unique in that it has ties to the Mayor’s office through Project Indy, is on the committee for the Congressman André Carson’s Youth Opportunity Fair, partners with numerous local businesses to provide work-based learning opportunities, and badges all students through the Job Ready Indy program. Learn more about JAG successes on our blog.
Marion County’s JAG program has earned a “6 of 6” status the past eight years and is recognized as a Gold Standard program nationally. JAG participants maintain better than a 90% graduation rate and over 80% positive outcomes (full-time hours in postsecondary education or job).
“The JAG National Network will make a measurable difference in the outcomes of public education and workforce development systems at the national, state and local level. We will strive to increase opportunity and reduce poverty and unemployment by fostering A Nation Without Dropouts.”
