A Note from Our CEO

Dear Partners, Colleagues, and Community Members,

As we reflect on another impactful year, I am proud to share EmployIndy’s accomplishments in advancing equitable pathways to prosperity for residents across Marion County. Guided by our vision, we strive for a future where every individual has access to the services and training needed to secure a livable wage and thrive in a career that meets the region's demand for skilled talent. This year, our programs and services reached over 65,000 residents, more than 60 percent of whom identify as people of color, reaffirming our commitment to serving our diverse community and breaking down barriers to economic mobility.

In 2023-2024, EmployIndy celebrated key milestones that reflect our focus on economic mobility and organizational sustainability. We honored our first Modern Apprenticeship Program graduates, certified the 100th Good Wages Initiative employer, celebrated our strong partnerships in college and career readiness with local schools, and received honors, including the IU Indianapolis Spirit of Philanthropy Award. Through initiatives like YES Indy, Talent Bound, and Choice Employers, we have helped create and expand career pathways that align with the needs of local employers while supporting participants’ aspirations for long-term success.

Our role as a workforce intermediary is vital, fostering collaboration and innovation to support our evolving workforce and talent ecosystem. From the expansion of the New Skills ready network, implementation support of the Indianapolis African American Quality of Life Initiative, to being featured as a model pathways intermediary by national organizations, EmployIndy remains dedicated to building a sustainable and inclusive workforce for all.

As you take a moment to read our annual report I invite you to review our top moments of the year for the stories of our residents and partners impacted by EmployIndy’s mission. Thank you for your continued support as we work together to shape a stronger, more equitable future.

Our Impact

Career-Connected Learning

In today’s rapidly evolving economy, students face increasing challenges in preparing for meaningful and sustainable careers. Employers often express concern about the lack of skilled and diverse workers who can meet the demands of a 21st-century workforce, while young people struggle to make informed career choices and build practical skills. We're working to connect youth with real-world work experiences that align with emerging economic trends to fill that gap.

Coaching + Training

As businesses grow, the demand for workers with specialized skills and postsecondary training has become increasingly urgent as most jobs now require more than a high school education. However, navigating postsecondary options can be challenging for both students and jobseekers, leading to low rates of persistence and completion. Coaching services that provide personalized guidance and support are essential to helping individuals choose the right education or training paths and persist through to completion.

Talent Connection

Today's local job market is competitive, particularly in sectors requiring specialized skills, and both jobseekers and businesses face challenges in finding the right match. Workers often struggle to secure positions that align with their skills and career goals, while businesses encounter difficulties in filling roles with qualified candidates. By offering tailored assistance, EmployIndy can enhance job-matching efficiency, helping workers secure meaningful employment while meeting the needs of businesses for skilled talent

Good Jobs

In today’s global marketplace, businesses must continually adapt to remain competitive. One of the most effective ways to achieve this is by investing in job quality and wage equity practices. When businesses collaborate with the workforce ecosystem to create high-quality job experiences, they not only attract and retain top talent but also foster a more productive and prosperous workforce.

Systems Change + Advocacy

Deeply rooted systemic barriers can limit equitable access to education, employment, and economic opportunity. EmployIndy engages in advocacy that drives systems change to ensure sustainability and scale of interventions that systemically address some of the root causes for equity gaps in educational attainment, in good and promising jobs, and for Opportunity Youth.

These grantees are reimbursed for their work to hire, train, and retain Indianapolis workers. It removes the financial barriers that many employers face during the hiring process and allows them to provide opportunities for growth and employee success throughout the training process.

Story of Impact

Increasing Employer and Workforce Engagement

The vision behind NextLevel Jobs stems from the need to engage the current workforce and provide individuals with opportunities to grow within their company. In order to receive reimbursement for hiring and training, the employee must stay on for at minimum six months.
