Indy Chamber: Inclusive Growth in the Indianapolis Region
May 10, 2018 at 8:00 am - 9:30 am
As an organization that serves the construction consumer (owner) through the engagement of general contractors, subcontractors, engineers, design, suppliers, and affiliates, the ICR is uniquely positioned to engage in discussions that facilitate productive dialogue and, ultimately, build results. It is essential that regional and statewide stakeholders are brought into these environments to help allow owners, architects, engineers and construction professionals to visualize a role in resolving industry, regional and statewide challenges throughout Indiana. The ICR is proud to announce the first event in our Education. Networking. Dialogue. Solutions (ENDS) event series will be focused on inclusive economic growth, and outline challenges and opportunities facing the Indianapolis region’s communities and workforce.
The Indy Chamber has partnered with the Brookings Institution and IU Public Policy Institute to study inclusive growth in the Indy Region. While many parts of our region are thriving, poverty is increasing and too many jobs are going unfilled. The Indy Chamber, along with many partners, including the Indiana Construction Roundtable, are developing strategies for inclusive growth to ensure shared prosperity for both people and firms. As the construction industry looks to increase diversity, build the workforce of tomorrow, and play a key role in the economic development efforts, it is more important than ever that industry leadership remains informed and invested in the challenges and opportunities facing the Indianapolis region.
At this ICR event, the Indy Chamber will present the findings from their six month learning lab that will be pivotal for Accelerate Indy and the region’s economic development efforts moving forward. Following the Chamber’s presentation, ICR will host a moderated panel and Q&A discussion featuring experts on building inclusive regional economic development efforts.
